When I quit my job as a project manager to make my passion for tennis and vision of creating a new Norwegian tennis portal into a way of life, I couldn´t possibly predict that in the following months I would be invited to Liverpool to help organize Liverpool Hope International Tennis Tournament 2015. I didn´t hesitate to seize the opportunity, I wanted to just put myself out there, learn and contribute to the organization of the tournament. I chose to be in Liverpool for three weeks, to get properly into it and to be here before and during the tournament as well. It has been an amazing opportunity to learn a lot about event management in record time, in a setting that combines tennis, sports and a call for an active lifestyle. All packed into unique experiences close by to some of the world’s best tennis players!
Now that I have landed both physically and mentally, it’s time to share with you some of the experiences and thoughts about my time in Liverpool. Here are some thoughts I wrote a very early morning, before I ran out and began the daily assignments.
To return to Norway, to have summer vacation, will probably be a”culture shock” for me. After over three weeks in Liverpool, being involved in all aspects of the organization of the tournament, with daily plans, activities, promotions and networking events that span from morning to late evening, I have adjusted to a pace and mode of operation from which it is difficult to disconnect from. It’s incredibly instructive to be here, really exciting, rewarding, uplifting. I´m in my own Liverpool Tennis Tournament-bubble, in an amazing and unique tennis experience bubble. Yes, as part of a team serving several thousand of audiences, sponsors, partners, business leaders – not to mention tennis players and their team.
Liverpool Cricket Club is also the place where we gather from Thursday to Sunday the world famous trickster, Mansour Bahrami, British number. 2 Aljaz Bedene, number 36 in the world the Spaniard Pablo Andújar, straight-out-of-French-Open Damir Dzumhur, and Junior world number 1, Andrey Rublev, among others. Four of these will directly into the main draw at Wimbledon, the week after our tournament. So exciting![separator type=”thick”] [title maintitle=”Centre court status ” subtitle=”Saturday 13th of June”]
It´s all work and no play today as Centre Court at Liverpool Cricket club is being prepared, also the venue for tomorrow´s world record attempt.
Since the first tribunes went up, I have been in shock. Positively shocked! A closer opportunity to see world-class tennis live you will NOT come over . The sight is spectacular! We have also sponsor seats for the title sponsor, presenting sponsors and other sponsors, which sit right on Centre Court , along the sidelines! A truly unique experience!

The day before the actual day. Spectacular setting , the backdrop is lit to welcome the tennis stars, audiences, sponsors, partners and businesses. Get ready for some amazing tennis-filled days ahead !
Earlier this week tennis legend Bjørn Borg stated to predict Andrey Rublev (RUS) as future world number 1. Present world number 1, Novak Djokovic played in his younger days at Liverpool Hope International as a Junior – will history repeat itself? Will Rublev follow in Djokovic´s footsteps?
Note: This is the second time that Rublev will play at Liverpool Hope International.
Can you imagine sitting so close on the sidelines and see a potential future world number one play! I am really looking forward to it, to help players with what they might have of questions and to continue the good job that the tournament officials are doing. My main task has been, and will also be as the tournament Press and Communications. The main focus will be taking care of the press during the press conference on Thursday and taking care of communication around the tournament on the web and social media, and to ensure a seamless dialogue ” backstage” with the players , managers, subcontractors , sponsors, businesses among themselves. And to help also in other places where it is needed.
