I had to get up at about 05.00 this morning to have time to update you before yet another busy day organizing the Liverpool International 2015. The tournament dates are fast approaching, actually there is only two more days until Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Turnering kicks off!
World record attempt
Wednesday 17th of June, 10.30 am
Tomorrow marks the start of the tournament, and we kick off with nothing less than an attempt by us in tournament management and the rest of the tournament team to set a world record – for the second time in the tournament’s history!
2014 marked the year when the International went into the Guiness Book of World Records
for the largest tennis lesson, with 683 children, each with its own tennis rackert, who participated in one and the same tennis lesson, at the same time! Shortly afterwards, however, our attempt was beat by Judy Murray, mother of Andy Murray
, with 770 children participating in the same tennis lesson at the same time.
Tomorrow we will assemble children from 20 schools from around Liverpool, Wirral, Bolton, Chester, Bolton and Manchester, over 30 tennis coaches from tennis clubs in Liverpool and 25 junior helpers from Calder Stones middle school. Can you imagine ?! Over 800 children are scheduled to arrive tomorrow at. 9.30
(10.30 Norwegian time) at Liverpool Cricket Club
, the same place as tennis tournament will be played from Thursday. I am so excited! It’s incredibly well done by both tournament officials, who managed to put the record in 2014, and Judy Murray who managed to beat it in hindsight – but now we are hungry to get back the title of World’s Largest Tennis Lesson : D
